I read the Chinese version of “Camille” a few years ago. At that time I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier. “Camille” or “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800's, and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past.I think Marguerite was right in saying that no one truly cared about her, but only wanted something from her, the only exceptions being Armand and Julie Duprat. Of course, the Comte de G. and Comte de N. wanted her body and appearance. The Duke needed to “wake up and smell the coffee” and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. If he truly cared, he could have helped her leave her lifestyle without “keeping” her himself. And lastly, Prudence was a blood-sucking leech who used Marguerite almost worse than the men. I also think she was jealous of the fact that Marguerite had so much more courage than herself and someone truly loved her.

As director Eastwood said, "This is not a story about boxing, is a story about hope, dreams and love " Clint Eastwood's "Million Dollar Baby" is a masterpiece, pure and simple, deep and true. It tells the story of an aging fight trainer and a hillbilly girl who thinks she can be a boxer. It is narrated by a former boxer who is the trainer's best friend. But it's not a boxing movie. It is a movie about a boxer. Eastwood plays the trainer, Frankie, who runs a seedy gym in Los Angeles and reads poetry on the side. Hilary Swank plays Maggie, from southwest Missouri, who has been waitressing since she was 13 and sees boxing as the one way she can escape waitressing for the rest of her life. Otherwise, she says, "I might as well go back home and buy a used trailer and get a deep fryer and some Oreos." Morgan Freeman is Scrap, who was managed by Frankie into a title bout. Now he lives in a room at the gym and is Frankie's partner in conversations that have coiled down through the decades. When Frankie refuses to train a "girly," it's Scrap who convinces him to give Maggie a chance: "She grew up knowing one thing. She was trash." It is a dark picture overall: a lot of shadows, many night scenes, characters who seem to recede into private fates. It is a "boxing movie" in the sense that it follows Maggie's career and has several fight scenes. She wins from the beginning, but that's not the point; "Million Dollar Baby" is about a woman determined to make something of herself, and a man who doesn't want to do anything for this woman, and will finally do everything. Besides, this is a film which talks about dream!Until people are going to die, they will think that their dreams haven't come true. And Maggie, she had realized her dream.Though she's dead in the end,she had got the boxing fans and her coach's love. The results are not the most important, the most important thing is that what she got during the process of realizing her dream. What's more, she had walked into the door of dream. All of these are more important and valuable than winning or losing, which can go beyond the limits of life and death.Maggie's story reminds me of a poem I've read: Forget about the days when it's been cloudy. But don't forget your hours in the sun. Forget about the times you have been defeated. But don't forget the victories you have won. Forget about the misfortunes you have encountered. But don't forget the times your luck has turned. Forget about the days when you have been lonely. But don't forget the friendly smiles you have seen. Forget about the plans that didn't seem to work out right. But don't forget to always have a dream.

The ShawShank Redemption Hello, everyone,my topic today is “The ShawShank Redemption”.Prison as a special place for prisoners is part of the society. It's special because of its depriving the freedom of the prisoners. The prisoners in that situation are more sensitive to freedom than people in other situations. When they lost it,they found that it was so necessary to them that they looked forward to regaining it.By contrast, the people lived in the political society were interested in courting the fame and gain. They lost most of their inherent character. They put their soul into the fence of their own. They gave up the freedom of thinking. They forgot their original dream. The demands of the spirit were materialized to a position or some numbers.A prisoner spent almost all the life in the prison. When he got the parole, which was applied for many years but without reply,he didn't feel happy, but sad.He wanted to go to the prison again. He wanted to live in the place he knew.In the prison,he was a key who had knowledge and position. But when he went out of the prison,he found he was only an old man without anything. He couldn't finish his work quickly because his hands had suffered the arthritis.Unfortunately,he even had no power to struggle. As a result,He chose to suicide because it was the only thing he could do by himself.Red was a superman in the prison. He could find things that weren't in the prison at all.But when he went out of the prison,he could do nothing. He lived in the fear and felt so lonely. He loved freedom but he couldn't realize his value. In this film,Red said,“Hope is a dangerous thing.Drive a man insane.Nothing will take place here. You'd better get used to the idea. These walls here are kinds of funny. At the beginning, you hate them, then you will get used to them.As time passes, you will depend on them. That's institutionalizing.” In this film,Andy as the symbol of the hope lived in the prison for 20 years. He remained his dream all the time.On one hand,he looked forward to getting freedom. On the other hand,he believed that he was innocent of the murder. The real reason was his profound thought about hope.In his opinion, hope is a good thing, maybe the best thing, and no good things ever die.It makes a strong man save himself, and a great man save another one.According to this idea, the life in prison for 20 years did not made Andy give up the hope, but made him comprehend the meaning of the life.In fact, hope is a mood without ambition but it really exists. The sky,the sea and the beach compose a romantic picture. When Andy and Red,two weather-beaten friends, saw each other again in the island, all hardship of 20 years made Andy tougher and their friendship get harder as the same.

The summarry of the The main story of the film happens between Elizabeth Bennet and Darcy.Although,it seems that, they haven't attracted anyone's eyes.I mean that nobody has thought that love will exist between they two.Because almost everyone has heart of the complaint from their mouths about the other. So it is not surprise to see the father become so amazed when Lizzy says that she loves Darcy. But what's the reason? What has stopped them from getting together at first? It's price and prejudice. We all know that at the first ball, when Lizzy asked Mr Darcy to have a dance. He refused. He didn't think that anyone at the village can deserve him. After this,Lizzy promised not to pay attention to him any more because of his pride. There are another two things that make the impression of the hero worse on the herion. One is that she thinks it's him he that had separated her sister and her lover. The second is that she heard of something bad ,fabricated by Wickham who has antinomies with Darcy. These make the feeling of prejudice stronger and stronger. At last, when everything comes to light Lizzy regretted. She found that she had misunderstood him.And darcy has although changed .Not proud at all.He made an offer of marriage to her again and was accepted. No pride and no prejudice between each other.

A Review of Robinson Crusoe--《鲁宾逊漂流记》读后感 This is a novel by the English author Daniel Defoe, published in 1719. It is one of the most popular adventure novels in all literature. It is the story of Bobinson Crusoe, an Englishman who is shipwrecked in a lonely tropical island. He builds himself a hut, grows his own food, and becomes self-sufficient. After 23 years he meets with a group of cannibals and rescues one of their prisoners, a young native whome he calls Friday.Crusoe and his“man”Friday become close friends, and when they are finally rescued four years later, both return to England. Robinson Crusoe was partly based on the actual deeds of Alexander Selkirk, an 18th-century Scottish sailor who spent almost five years alone on a desert island. This novel is famous for its lovely details and its expression of belief in man's ability when left alone in nature.
Set in the late 13th century, 'Braveheart' is the story of one of Scotland's greatest national heroes Sir William Wallace. leader of the Scottish resistance forces during the first years of the long, ultimately successful struggle to free Scotland from English rule... Crucially charismatic in the title role, Gibson plays the heroic figure and emerges as a remarkable hero with wit and romantic soul, determined to rid his country of its English oppressors... Wallace's revolution was set in motion, with great obstacles from his countrymen... Many Scottish nobles lent him only grudging support as most of them were more concerned with wealth and titles than the freedom of the country... In fact, the Scottish leaders are in favor of revolt-or not-depending on English bribes... Wallace, by comparison, is a man of honor, incorruptible and righteous... He was knighted and proclaimed 'guardian and high protector of Scotland,' but as much as he railed against the Scottish nobles, submitted to Edward I, King of England, he was astonished and in shock to discover the treachery of the leading Scot contender for the throne—Robert, the Earl of Bruce—to whom he confided , 'The people would follow you, if you would only lead them.' Sophie Marceau is exquisite as the distressed princess Isabella of France who ends up falling in love with Wallace, warning him out of several traps... Catherine McCormack is a stunning beauty who ignites Wallace's revolution... Patrick McGoohan is chilling, brutal, and vicious as the ruthless Edward I, known by the nickname 'Longshanks.' This king remains simply the embodiment of evil... While Angus McFadyen moves as a nobleman torn between his conscience and political aspiration, and Brendan Gleeson brings strength and humor to his role as the robust Hamish, David O'Hara is very effective as the crazy Irishman who provides much of the film's comic relief from even the most tensed moments... Mel Gibson has reason to be proud of 'Braveheart.' It is a motion picture that dares to be excessive... Gibson presents passionately the most spaciously impressive battles (yet staged for films) even excessively, and it is his passion and excess that make the motion picture great... The horror and futility of massed hand-to-hand combats are exciting rather repulsive... It is epic film-making at its glorious best... Gibson's 'Braveheart' focuses on the human side of Wallace, a character so immense, so intelligent, and so passionate, exploring the definitions of honor and nobility, pushing us to follow the hero into his struggle against injustice and oppression...

Reading the old man and the sea About the author Ernest Hemingway, one of the greatest American writers in 20th century, is the representative of “lost generation” writer. He was born on July 21, 1899, in Oak Park, Illinois. worked as a reporter after graduating from high school in 1917.,amd served as an ambulance driver in the Italian infantry and was wounded just before his 19th birthday. Hospitalized, Hemingway fell in love with an older nurse. In 1954, Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. In his life, Hemingway married four times and wrote numerous essays, short stories and novels. The effects of Hemingway's lifelong depressions, illnesses and accidents caught up with him. In July 1961, he committed suicide in Ketchum, Idaho. About the book The old man and the sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works. Told in language of great simplicity and power , it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman ,down on his luck ,and his supreme ordeal ---a relentless , agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream . Here Hemingway recasts , in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of defeat , of personal triumph won from loss . Written in 1952 ,this hugely successfully novella confirmed his power and presence in the literary world and played a huge part in his winning the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature . About the old man Santiago is described as a failure by other fishermen in the village for catching no fish for a long time . However, he should be regarded as a hero all his life , when he had played the hand game with the great Negro from Cienfuegos who was the strongest man on the docks ;when he fight with that large marlin ; when he struggle with the sharks . You can find his optimism, confidence, wisdom, perseverance and bravery anywhere . I admire him not only because these but also his regarding these as the things he had to do , the rules he had to obey . Such a man is really a man , a marvelous man . All the characters of him is worth being learned not only in Hemingway's times ,but for ever ; not only for a certain kind of man , but for all of us .Let's always remember his word “But man is not made for defeat,” he said. “A man can be destroyed but not defeated.”

Our main pups include brave Lucky, who gets a strong personality mirroring his character in the book, lovable Rolly, the gourmand of the pups, and sweet little Cadpig, who is the true runt of the litter. Also there is Spot the chicken, who longs to be a dog. I find them all extremely amiable and enjoyable to watch. They are usually foiling Cruella's schemes for their land, or outwitting Lt. She soon finds herself attracted to a mysterious boy who seems to be infuriated by her mere presence. Soon, however, the truth comes out and the two become inseparable. Bella never dreamed she'd fall in love, let alone with a vampire named Edward. Throughout the novel, he fights to save her, from himself and from others. Those who will enjoy this novel most are teens and adults looking for a good fantasy and adolescent romance. This is the novel that took Harry Potter's place on the best seller's list. The world of magic and wizards may very well be replaced with the world of vampires created by Stephenie Meyer in her Twilight Saga. For me, the novel didn't seem to be written particularly well. The plot is simple, characters are predictable and static, and it takes forever for the action to start. That all being said, I think the novel was at least average and worth a read. I will continue to read the rest in the series, but I doubt I'll re-read them once I'm done A tale of two cities is one of Dickens's most important representative works. The novel profoundly exposed the society contradiction before the French Revolution, intensely attacks the aristocratic social class is dissolute and cruel, and sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes. The novel also described many magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on,which displayed people's great strength. The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a great part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro. But The Old Man and the Sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me. I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday.
