Good evening, Honorable judges, Ladies and gentlemen.

It’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—Change the World,Change Ourselves

It’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. Not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.

Frankly speaking, i don't quite agree with them.Indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples).But why can't we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.

There are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. On the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don't have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father's day and april fool's day etc. On the other hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. Overwhelmed by such a trend,chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.

With the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. We are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.The only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? The answer is definitely no. What we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. Only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. Only by educating can we play a really important role in the world.

How can we express our gratitude? it's never a simple question to answer. gratitude is a rare jewel, not a piece of cake, i know. but how can we expect such big events happening now and then? how can we be ready to say thank you ahead of time? how can we always hope to be grateful to everything and everyone for their dignity and generosity? sometimes i may ask to myself. is it moral? is it honest? is it beneficial? is it necessary? or the most interesting one, is it ridiculous? ha-ha…so in my opinion, we'd better concentrate on our life's details. keep your eyes open to your daily life. yes! a shining smile is supposed to be gratitude. a thank-you note is supposed to be gratitude. a soulful watch is supposed to be gratitude. as far as a baby's crying on his arrival is supposed to be gratitude. and even fallen leaves in autumn are supposed to be gratitude. so the person, who stands here giving you a speech, is also showing his gratitude. And see no end to the landscape, new objects presenting themselves as we advance; so, in the commencement of life, we set no bounds to our inclinations. nor to the unrestricted opportunities of gratifying them. we have as yet found no obstacle, no disposition to flag; and it seems that we can go on so forever. We look round in a new world, full of life, and motion, and ceaseless progress; and feel in ourselves all the vigor and spirit to keep pace with it, and do not foresee from any present symptoms how we shall be left behind in the natural course of things, decline into old age, and drop into the grave. 由于年轻人天真单纯，可以说是茫然无知，因而将自己跟大自然划上等号；并且，由于经验少而感情盛，误以为自己也能和大自然一样永世长存。

我们一厢情愿，痴心妄想，竟把自己在世上的暂时栖身，当作千古不变、万事长存的结合，好像没有冷淡、争执、离别的密月。

像婴儿带着微笑入睡，我们躺在用自己编织成的摇篮里，让大千世界的万籁之声催哄我们安然入梦；我们急切切，兴冲冲地畅饮生命之杯，怎么也不会饮干，反而好像永远是满满欲溢；森罗万象纷至沓来，各种欲望随之而生，使我们腾不出工夫想死亡。

我的大学生活

Time flies!Our freshmen have spent two months in our beautiful campus of *** university. Every new beginning is a new challenge.We can't expect anything to be the same as our imagine.Different envirenment is a new battle.We are always curious with the things around.Though we come from different places,we have our own dream, our own ambition, our own challenge.But the mankind is sometimes so fragile that it can't withstand outside lure. Many students are the first time to be so far away form home.They come to a foreign city, a foreign campus, facing so many foreign but friendly faces.Plenty of activities bring us fresh air and pleasant fleeing.Be busy with study and work enriches our life,helping preventing our homesick. Life in campus is different with that in elementary school and middle school.We have much spare time dominated by our own.Our campus is just like another home.People from all corners of our country come together to form a big family.There are tears as well as laughters.We have troubles but we are also learning to conquer them.We become more and more brave and more and more stronger.We are no longer the little baby that will never grow up in our parents eyes.We are growing up day by day. I love the life in our university. We have a new starting point, a new origin and a period of a brand new life.Our freshmen life is continuing.Please wait and see our brilliant achievement！光阴似箭，岁月如梭，转眼间大一新生在****大学这座美丽的校园里度过了两个多月。

大学更是我们热血青年挥洒汗水，收获笑容的乐土！据了解，新生入学后一月内是各种学生组织换届纳新的高潮期，很多新生都积极投身这股热潮，在活动中锻炼自己。

高中时老师说的话，应验了，人们不是单纯的朋友了。

人与人之间有了利用，有了嫉妒，有了猜疑，为了那些学分，人们的心变了！老师还说大学的生活，学习，处世，和以往的会很不同的！现在觉的真的很不同啊！虽然军训已成过去式，不少同学仍怀念那段与同学“惺惺相惜“的艰苦生活。

他们表示，军训虽然又苦又累，但是锻炼了每个人永不言败的坚忍与团结协作的团队精神。

走过军训，更有信心迎接随之而来的大学生活的种种考验。

许多同学都是第一次离家那么远，来到陌生的城市，陌生的校园，面对的是一张张陌生却友好的面孔。

丰富多采的活动带给同学们的是新鲜，愉悦。

繁忙的学习，工作占满了课余时间，充实了自由的生活，帮助同学们排遣那萦绕心头的思乡情，那初来乍到的陌生感。

大学是社会的缩影，社会的预科班。

学生是校园的主角，大一新生更是新鲜的血液。

面对崭新的生活，我们都有梦想。

面对新的征程，一路风景，我们不忘欣赏，更不忘前行。

生活的压力也许让我们手足无措，学习的困难也许让我们暂时迷茫，但锻炼总须挫折，我们坚信“明天会更好”。

自己的生活自己把握，我们一定会活得精彩！ 生活上，新生中也体现着浓浓的友情。

大家都对高年级同学在生活上提供的热情帮助赞不绝口，他们也向学长学姐学习，尽可能地为同学多做一些事情。

有了新起点、新方向，就会拥有一段新生活，我们的大一生活慢慢拉开序幕，让我们拭目以待吧……
