Good afternoon everybody! It's my honor to speak here and I am very glad to share my topic with all of you. Today I'd like to talk about my dream. I do not just he one dream, in fact, I he three. They are: a healthy life, a happy family and to trel my great country.
I he always admired the long healthy life my grandparents he. They are older than 80 years of age and they are still alive and kicking! How do they do that!? My grandparents plant vegetables and grow rice themselves; even in their old age they still make food for themselves! I guess that is why they can remain healthy. More importantly they remain humble and never ask for too much from life. Perhaps that
1
makes them mon, but they live a happy life. My
grandmother once told me this: I do not want to live long, only long enough for some grand children to be running around in my house. I want to live a long, healthy and happy life just as they he.
Since my graduation from primary school, until now, every time on my birthday I make the same wish. I wish my parents will not fight anymore. I am not plaining that they ge me a bad childhood, they just fight so much! I am unhappy but that does not mean they do not love me. They do! They love me with all their heart. I love my parents also; I want them to live a happy life as well.
I want to trel this great country of ours. I want to see the beauty of our country. I want to see the miracles that made this country great! I want to go from the east to west, from the north all the way down to the south! I he a dream, that one day I can trel and see my country with my family and friends! If that is not possible, seeing my country on my own is good enough also. If I can fulfill all three of my dreams in life, then God can take me away. I would be happy, and l would he lived a full and prosperous life.
Thank you everyone for listening to my dreams.

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of
20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spring back to dust.
Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young.
When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are
3
grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch wes of optimism, there is hope you may die young at 80.2017年中学生英语演讲稿篇3
Good morning teachers and fellow students. Today we would like to introduce a few forite books to you.
My forite book is (Italian: Cuore). This is a diary written by an Italian boy Enrico. The diary is about his life and study. It included various touching stories that happened around Enrico, the mottos taught by his parents, as well as the wonderful ten monthly stories told by his teacher during the class. Every word in the chapter describes the word love. From patriotism to friendship, and to the love between parents and child -- really touching.
This novel taught me how to love, and how to learn from love. I really like this book very much. How about you? What is your forite book?
My forite book is . He you read it before?
Oh, I hen’t read this book before. What is it about?
Well, it is a story of a rich girl who maintained her noble character after the bankruptcy of her father. The story is happy ending.
Can you tell us why you love this book so much?

Scientists claim that in 50 years’ time, there’ll be computers that are likely to be even more intelligent than humans. This is a fascinating idea, but I don’t believe it’ll really happen.
It’s true that computer scientists have made fantastic inventions over the last few years. They have developed computers that can understand things people say, and can now give meaningful responses. They have built computers that have really big memory capacities.
But human intelligence is more than having a good memory. It may be possible to build computers that can remember a lot more than the human brain. But humans can do a lot more. They laugh and cry, they enjoy a good film or an interesting book.
To conclude, I would like to say that computer science is a fascinating subject. In 50 years, time, we will probably have
computers that can do things that today we cannot even dream of. But I believe human intelligence will always be higher than artificial intelligence.

I. Sentences
Please listen to the following five sentences. There’re several missing words in each sentence. Fill in the blanks with the exact words you hear with. Each sentence will be read twice.
Is it possible to see a copy of the train schedule?
Who’s responsible for organizing the advertising campaign next month?
Because he had lost his keys, Daniel had to climb through the window.
I love this suit; the last time I wore it was the day I got married.
I forgot to turn off the coffee maker in the kitchen yesterday morning. Dialogues
Please listen to the following five mini-dialogues. Each dialogue is followed by a question. Choose the best answer to
each question according to the dialogue you hear. Each dialogue and question will be read twice. W: Good morning. Would you check to see if there’s any mail for me, please? Room 421.
M: Good morning, madam. These two letters and a postcard are for you.
W: One of the letters is for someone else. Is there a parcel for me?
M: Sorry. That’s all there is.
Q: What did the woman receive?
M: Hi, Mom. I’m going to be late. I’ve just missed the 7:15 train and I have to wait for the next one. W: What time is that? Is there one at 7:45?
M: There should be. So Ill get back at 12:25. Can you still pick me up from the station? W: OK. Ill be there. See you later.
Q: What time will the woman meet her son?
M: I have to go to the bank now—I’ve got an appointment at 3. Why don’t you do some more shopping or go
to the park? You don’t need to come with me.
W: I think Ill look around a few more shops. I want to get a new pair of shoes. Where shall I meet you? M: I’ll wait for you in the restaurant across from the bank. Ill be there at about 3:30.
W: OK. See you there.
Q: Where will they meet?
W: You know we need to rent a car for our vacation? Well, I got some prices from the Internet. The cheapest
one is ?110 but it could be too small. There’s a bigger car for ?130.
M: We paid about ?100 last year and the car was fine. I think we should get the cheaper one. W: OK, I agree.
M: Shall I reserve it then? I can do that this afternoon if you give me the information. Q: How much will they pay for renting the car?
M: Hi, Jodie. I’m looking for someone to play in my new band. Do you still play the guitar? W: Oh, I gave that up a long time ago. I take lessons on the drums, though. I practice every day so I,m getting quite
good.
M: That sounds great but I play the drums myself. If you know a keyboard player or a guitarist, tell them to come to our
practice. We meet on Tuesdays at 7 in the garage behind my house.
W: OK.
Q: Which musical instrument is the woman learning to play?

M: It was OK. Im getting better—on most things anyhow. I had to do some parking at the end and I kept getting that wrong. It’s so difficult.
W: I’m sure it’s all hard. My sister just learned to drive but I decided to leave it for another year or two. I don’t think Im old enough really. I don’t want the responsibility and I know Id get nervous.
M: I know what you mean, but I hate to keep asking my parents to drive me places. It would be easier for them - 14 -

if I could drive.
W: Yes, but what about your test? Are you ready to take it soon?
M: I’m not sure. I think I need more lessons. If I took the test next week, I wouldn’t do well.
W: Well. I’m sure you,I’ll pass your driver’s test when you’ve had more lessons. Will you get your own car after
passing the test?
M: My parents have said they,ll get me one. They know I can,t afford it and don’t mind helping.
W: You,re lucky. Do you plan to drive to college every day then, or is that too expensive?
M: I’ve thought about it, but I think gas would cost too much and there’s nowhere to park. Ill keep taking the bus.
W: Yeah, the bus would be cheaper. Well, good luck with the lessons.
M: Thanks. See you soon.
Questions:
What’s the most difficult thing for the man to learn?
Why doesn’t the woman want to learn to drive now?
When’ll the man take the driving test?

Passages
Please listen to the following passage. The passage is followed by five questions. Choose the best answer to each question according to the passage you hear. The passage and questions will be read twice.
Many things that make life easier for us were invented by women. The dishwasher, for example, was invented by a woman in 1886. She was a wealthy American who gave a lot of dinner parties. But she was annoyed that her servants used to break plates and glasses when they were washing them after the party. So, Josephine Cochrane decided to try and invent a machine which could wash plates and glasses safely. Today the dishwasher is used in homes and restaurants.
Another fantastic invention that improved the lives of millions of people was disposable diapers. They were invented by Marion Donovan in 1950. Anybody who has a small baby understands what a big difference her invention made. Today more than 55 million diapers are used every day.
A few years later, in 1956, Bette Nesmith Graham, an office secretary, invented something to help her fix her typing mistakes. In those days, if you made a mistake, you had to get a new sheet of paper and start typing again from the beginning. Graham’s brilliant idea was to use a white liquid to paint over mistakes. Her invention is called white-out
today.
And finally ... policemen, soldiers and politicians all over the world are protected by a substance which was invented by a woman. In 1966 Stephanie Kwolek invented a special material which was very light but incredibly strong, much stronger than metal. This textile is used to make bullet-proof vests. Her invention has probably saved thousands of lives.
Questions:
What are the women mentioned in the passage?
What happened after Josephine Cochrane’s parties?
How many disposable diapers are used every day now?
What was Bette Nesmith Graham’s job?
When did Stephanie Kwolek invent the special material?
Please listen to the following passage and fill in the blanks according to the passage you hear with ONLY ONE WORD. The passage will be read twice.
It,s almost finished! The sports center will be open to the public next week on June 16th—for sports and swimming.
The fitness center isn’t finished, however, and won’t be open until August 21st. The fitness center looks out over the lake and has one of the best views in the area. So we’re all looking forward to that.
What can you do in the sports center? There’re facilities for indoor sports—that’s volleyball, basketball and table tennis—and outdoor sports like football and tennis.
There’s also our new swimming pool. It’s 50 meters long—twice the size of the old pool. And for those of you who
want to get fit, you can book an appointment with a fitness advisor who’ll help you decide which equipment to use and which classes to join.
If you want to reserve a place in a class, go to the reception desk or phone the sports club. There’re fitness classes, exercise, yoga and dance classes.
Our prices are in line with other sports and fitness centers in the region. You pay an annual fee and then an entrance fee per visit on weekends. It,s a good idea to book as it’ll get very busy on Saturdays and Sundays. Students pay only
half-price fees on Wednesdays.

you can work part-time after school or in weekends. And during summer holidays you can work 40 hour

W: Good morning, boys and girls! I,m glad that you’ve become the freshmen in our school this year. Im Mary Brown, the head nurse of our school hospital. Ill say a few words about the hospital. Please keep
quiet and pay attention to what Ill say.
Our school hospital is in North Building. It,s open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day. Our nurses and doctors are always ready to help you. There’s a number you can call anytime—6195568. Of course, I
hope that none of you will get sick, but in case you do, I want you to know what to do. For example, if
you have a really bad cold, it’s a good idea to come and see a doctor. Last year, twelve students didn’t take
this seriously and became seriously ill. If you don’t feel well, come to see the doctors in the school hospital. Any questions? If not, you can move to the playground to do morning exercise. Have a nice and
healthy day.
Questions:
What’s Mary Brown?
Where’s the school hospital?
When’s the school hospital open?
How many students developed a serious illness from a bad cold last year?
What will the boys and girls probably do next?
Please listen to the following passage and fill in the blanks according to the passage you hear with one word for each blank. The passage will be read twice.
M: Good morning, this is Morning Our City. Im John Smith on the air. If you,ve got nothing to do today, why not go to the east part of the city and do some digging?
That’s the message from Maria Miller High School, which is organizing a tree planting event near
Moon Mountain. To improve the environmental education of its students and gain people’s attention, the
school will plant over the next few days a total of 1,400 trees paid by the government. They,re hoping to
plant half of the trees today and they’re looking for volunteers to come along and help. No experience is necessary. There’ll be experts to give directions. Equipment will be provided. Everyone is welcome to
come anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. I don’t think you need my advice on what sort of shoes or clothes to wear, but take work gloves to protect your hands. So it would be a nice day out for all the
family. Enjoy your day. 听力部分到此结束,请将答案涂或写在答题纸上。

Dear Mr Brown,
I am writing for the School Association which meets In every other week for a meal at your restaurant. We were very disappointing with the last meal we had. The food was cold and was not which we had ordered. I made the booking myself, and I asked for hot pumpkin soup followed by a choice of meat or fish or vegetable. The person take my booking said that menu was

manager, the waiter said that there was nobody for help me. He was quite rude when I insist, and refused to tell me his name. Late we found the name “Mike” on the bill. We do not wish to return to your restaurant since changes are made. Please let me know if you will be able to
return to your previous good menus, provide food as ordering, and teach your staff courtesy. I look forward to your reply.

In 50 years, time, we will probably have computers that can do things that today we cannot even dream of. But I believe human intelligence will always be higher than artificial intelligence.

I’vejust missed the 7:15 train and I have to wait for the next one.
The cheapest
one is £110 but it could be too small. There’s a bigger car for £130.
M: We paid about £100 last year and the car was fine. I think we should get the cheaper one.
W: OK, I agree.
M: Shall I reserve it then? I can do that this afternoon if you give me the information.
Q: How much will they pay for renting the car?
M : Hi, Jodie. I’m looking for someone to play in my new band. Do you still play the guitar?
W: Oh, I gave that up a long time ago. I take lessons on the drums, though. I practice every day so I, m getting quite good.
M: That sounds great but I play the drums myself. If you know a keyboard player or a guitarist, tell them to come to our practice. We meet on Tuesdays at 7 in the garage behind my house.

M: It was OK. Im getting better— on most things anyhow. I had to do some parking at the end and I kept getting that wrong. It’s so difficult.
W: I’m sure it’s all hard. My sisterjust learned to drive but I decided to leave it for another year or two. I don’t think Im old enough really. I don’t want the responsibility and I know Id get nervous.
M: I know what you mean, but I hate to keep asking my parents to drive me places. It would be easier for them

W: Yes, but what about your test? Are you ready to take it soon?
M: I’m not sure. I think I need more lessons. If I took the test next week, I wouldn’t do well.
W: Well. I’m sure you, I ’ ll pass your driver’s test when you’ ve had more lessons. Will you get your own car after passing the test?
M: My parents have said they, ll get me one. They know I can, t afford it and don’t mind helping.
W: You, re lucky.

Her invention is called white-out today.

In recent years, modern technology has changed the way we communicate in writing. However, despite the increased use of computers for writing, the skill of handwriting remains important in education, employment and everyday life.
Firstly, it' s worth mentioning that handwriting still plays an important role in our education system due to the fact that the majority of our examinations are still handwritten.
Secondly, writing with pen and paper helps you to focus on your work. Pen and paper can also allow you to think more freely when you do things such as brainstorming.
Finally, there' s another, but no less important point that writing by hand is a unique and irreplaceable part of our culture.

I like working with children very much and I would enjoy the challenge of organizing activities for them in one of your camps. Moreover, I ’ ve just finished high school and in October I ’ ll be starting a degree course in English. I ’ m therefore very keen to improve my language skills in an English -speaking country before I go to university. My interests include basketball and tennis, and I can also play the guitar. For the past three years I ’ ve attended summer camps in my country and last year I helped to run a number of events, including a kite-making workshop. I feel I have the necessary patience and energy to make active contribution to your camps and I hope you ’ ll consider my application. I ’ m available for an interview at any time and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Y ours faithfully, Costas Stergis

(B)One possible version:
Many people today believe that getting a well-paid job is essential, while finishing university is not. I strongly disagree with this view for a number of reasons.
First of all, education is the key to personal development. Doctors, scientists and teachers use their knowledge to advance society. Without them, there would be no cures for diseases and no progress in technology. What ’ s more, a good education can help someone to achieve economic success. Also, businesses wouldn ’ t be successful without educated people to run them. Success and financial rewards go hand in hand. As a result, highly trained people are often also better-paid people.
Of course, there are people who argue that education isn ’ t necessary in order to make lots of money. It ’ s true that certain high-paid jobs don ’ t require a high level of education, but they ’ re rare.
All in all, I believe that although money is important in life, it shouldn ’ t be given more emphasis than education. After all, with education comes knowledge and without this people and society can ’ t advance. (171words)

W:What ’ s the problem, Peter? Your hand is OK now, I hope.

(B)Please listen to the following longer dialogue. It is followed by five questions. Choose the best answer to each question according to what you hear. The dialogue and questions will be read twice .
W:Today I ’ m going to talk to Martin Carter, who ’ s going to make a rather special journey. Martin, tell us what you ’ re going to do.
M:My plan is to travel around the world in a balloon. I made a similar trip last August but it wasn ’ t successful, so I ’ m going to try again in winter. The winds are better and there are fewer thunderstorms then. I ’ ll probably leave in January. I don ’ t know the exact date yet.
W:Are you using a similar balloon this time?
M:Last time I didn ’ t have enough fuel to cross the Pacific and I had to land in India. My new balloon is larger so I can take more fuel. It ’ ll make it a bit heavier but I ’ ll be able to fly further.
W:What do you find the most difficult on a long flight?
M:Well, last time I spent a lot of time talking on the radio. Because of that, I only got two hours ’ sleep a day, which isn ’ t enough. That was a real problem for me. This time I ’ m going to spend less time on the radio and get more sleep.
W:Why do you like being up in the air?
M:It ’ s very peaceful and quiet up there but, to be honest, I don ’ t really like being on my own. But it ’ s all worth it when I look down at the oceans and the mountains. The world looks so perfect. And I love flying over the Sahara Desert.
W:Well, we wish you good luck. And what about the future?
M:As you know, my adventures started in a boat and I ’ ve already sailed across the Atlantic on my own. I can fly a plane but I prefer balloons. Anyway, after this trip, I ’ ve decided to stay on the ground. I ’ ll go back to my hobby of climbing. On my list are the seven highest mountains so I need to start before I get too old. W:Thank you for talking to me, Martin. And good luck!
Questions:
11. When will be Martin Carter ’ s next balloon flight?
12. In what way is the new balloon different from the last one ?

14. Why does Martin like flying in a balloon?
15. What else does the man want to do?
III. Passages
(A)Please listen to the following passage. It is followed by five questions. Choose the best answer to each question according to what you hear. The passage and questions will be read twice .
And now it ’ s time for your best news stories of the week.
Monday ’ s story. This happened in Kent in the south of England. A woman went to the supermarket, and she had a bag of old clothes to throw in the recycling bin. But after she ’ d thrown them in, she decided that she ’ d made a mistake and she wanted to keep them, but when she tried to rescue the items she got stuck in the bin 16--
with only her legs visible from outside. Luckily someone saw her and called the fire brigade, who came and rescued her. So there ’ s a lesson there, be careful before you throw things into a recycling bin. Tuesday ’ s story. A bank clerk accidentally gave a customer nearly 2million pounds on Tuesday when he made a mistake with her deposit. When Jenny Woollvin went to her local bank to pay a fifty-pound cheque into her account, she decided to check her balance at the same time. To her surprise, she found she was a millionaire! When the clerk was filling in the form to pay in the fifty pounds he accidentally put part of her account number into the space where the amount goes — so he had given her 1,761,000pounds. Unfortunately for Jenny the error was discovered and the money instantly disappeared.
Our next story happened in Bristol on Wednesday. A postman saw two men who were robbing a woman, and ran to her defence. He managed to hit one of the robbers with his heavy mailbag — but then he discovered that in fact they were actors, and were filming a scene for a TV series. A BBC spokesman said that no one was hurt. Questions:
16. Where did the first story take place?
17. Why did the woman get stuck in the bin?
18. When did the second story happen?
19. Why did the bank clerk make a mistake?
20. What did the postman hit the robbers with?
(B)Please listen to the following passage and fill in the blanks according to what you hear, using ONLY ONE WORD for each blank. The passage will be read twice .
M:Excuse me. May I have your attention, please? Good morning, everybody. My name ’ s Sam, I ’ m a firefighter, and I ’ m here today to give you some tips on how to prevent house fires. I ’ ll also be telling you the best way of getting away from a fire, if you ever happen to be trapped in one.
Most fires in the home happen while people are sleeping. One of the most important steps you can take to protect your family is to install a smoke alarm on each floor of your house. Once the smoke alarm is installed and working, you should make an escape plan with your family. Make sure everyone knows how to get out. Of course, there are other measures you can take. The most common cause of fire at home involves smoking in the bedroom. It ’ s important to keep matche s and lighters out of the reach of children, preferably in a locked cupboard. Never go away from food that ’ s cooking, especially hot oil if you ’ re frying.
As well as preventing fires at home, you also need to know what to do if a fire does break out. If you get trapped in your home by smoke or flames, close all the doors, and stuff towels or clothing under the doors to keep smoke out. Cover your nose and mouth with a damp cloth to protect your lungs. If you have to escape through a smoky area, remember that clearer air is always nearest to the floor. Crawl ou t on all fours to avoid smoke and toxic fumes. Finally, and very importantly, if a fire breaks out, don ’ t try to rescue pets or possessions. There isn ’ t time to do this — you must get out as soon as possible. Once you ’ ve got out, don ’ t go back in for any reason. Firefighters have a better chance of rescuing people who are trapped than you do.
OK, any questions?
