I am a student living in Davis H all, which is a dormitory(集体宿舍 ) here for three months. During that time, I’ve noticed that the common living areas have become extremely messy(脏乱 ) and the situation has been getting worse, You can see the mess in the student playing areas and kitchen. That’s where the students play games, watch TV, cook and eat. Fifty students share this area. Unluckily, people have been leaving their dirty dishes and food out in the kitchen. The food attracts insects, and the kitchen smells terrible. In the other part of the living areas, people regularly leave papers, garbage (残剩食物) and clothing out everywhere. Other messy

areas in Davis Hall include the stairways and the halls. People have been dumping garbage there. They have also been leaving out items like bicycles, skates and boxes. This is extremely dangerous because people because people might step on them. I have thought of three solutions to this problem. The first includes a cleaning plan. Each week, the people on one floor of the building clean these common spaces. In turns, the people on each floor of the building are responsible for one common area. The floor students throw out anything that is left out at the end of the week. Another solution is to set up video cameras. People who make a mess and are caught on camera pay a fine (罚款 ). For example, for every dirty dish they leave in the sink (水池 ), they pay one dollar. The best solution, in my opinion, is to encourage everyone to use common sense and clean up after themselves. We all agree that a living community is like a home, even if it’s temporary (临时的). Let’s work together to make Davis Hall a place we’re all proud to call “home”.
