Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I’m Angela Zhang from Cla4 Grade 8. Today, my topic is, “The Shanghai World Expo”.
First, I’ll say something about World Expo History. As we know, the very first World Expo, the Great Exhibition of 1851, took place in the Crystal Palace in London. UK. Ever since then, the goals of World Expos have been both high-minded as well as commercial. Visitors are able to explore the world outside of their everyday experience—outside cultures, new scientific
advancements, and new inventions. World Expos have excited and inspired more and more people in the world.
On December3, 2002, the Bureau of International Expositions announced that Shanghai will host Expo2010. the BIE had received bids from five cities to host Expo2010. Among the 5 nice cities, the BIE chose Shanghai at last! It’s really an exciting news for not only Shanghainese, but also all of Chinese people. Here are some details about it.
Look at this profile carefully. The title is “The 2010 World Exposition ,Shanghai, China ”. this is the logo.
And the theme is “better city., better life”.OK, let’s guewho is the image representative? Yeah, you’re right, Yao
Ming!
Shanghai Expo is the first comprehensive World Expo held in a developing country. And it is also the first one that takes “the city” as its theme, hoping that it can push forward the city development and help bring about a better urban living environment, just like the theme: better city, better life. I think, as a student in Shanghai, we should learn to be a gentle person and keep good manners from now on. And try to practice
English more in order to communicate with foreigners fluently
in the near future. Because, we’re a part of Shanghai!【扩

把长句改成适听的短句;
把倒装句改为常规句;
把听不明白的文言词语、成语加以改换或删去;
把单音节词换成双音节词;
把生僻的词换成常用的词;

I don't know what that dream is that you have. I don't care how disappointing it might be as you're working toward that dream. But that dream that you're holding in your mind – it's possible. Some of you already know that it's hard. It's not easy. It's hard changing your life.
In the process of chasing your dreams, you are going to incur a lot of
disappointment, a lot of failure, a lot of pain. There will be moments when you are going to doubt yourself. You'll say, “Why, God? Why? Why is this
happening to me? I'm just trying to take care of my children, and my mother. I'm not trying to steal or rob from anybody. How did this have to happen to me?” For those of you who have
experienced some hardships – don't give up on your dream.
The rough times are gonna come, but they will not stay, they will come to pass.
Greatness is not this wonderful, esoteric, elusive god-like feature that only the
special among us will ever taste. It is something that truly exists in
all of us. It is very important for you to believe that you are the one!
Most people?.they raise a family, they earn a living, and then they die. They stop growing, they stop working on themselves, they stop stretching, they stop pushing themselves. Then a lot of people like to complain but they don't wanna do anything about their situation. And most people don't work on their dreams. Why? One is because of fear – the fear of failure. “What if things
don't work out?”. And the fear
of success. “What if things DO work out and I can't handle it?”. These are not risk takers.
You've spent so much time with other people. You've spent SO MUCH TIME trying to get people to like you, you know other people more than you know yourself! You've studied them, you know about them, you want to hang out like them, you want to be JUST LIKE THEM! And you know what? You've invested SO MUCH TIME IN THEM, you don't even know who you are!
I challenge YOU to spend time by yourself.
It's necessary that you get the LOSERS out of your life if you want to live your dream.
But for people who are chasing their dreams, life has a special sort of meaning. When you become the “right person,” what you do is
you start separating yourself from other people. You begin to have a certain uniqueness. As long as you follow other people, as long as you're being a copy-cat, you will NEVER EVER BE the best copy-cat in the world.
I challenge you to define your value.
Not everyone will see it. Not everyone will join you. Not everyone will have the vision. It's NECESSARY to know that. You are an uncommon breed! It's necessary that you align yourself with people and attract people into your business – people
who are hungry. People who are unstoppable and ueasonable. People who refuse to leave life just as it is and who want more!
The people who are living their dreams are the people who know that if it's gonna happen, it's up to them.
If you wanna be successful, if you wanna have and do stuff you've never done before?
I challenge you to invest in YOU.
Someone's opinion of you does NOT have to become your reality. You don't have to go through life being a victim. And even though you face disappointments, you must know within yourself, that you can do this. Even if no one helps you see to it, you must see it for yourself. This is what I believe, and I'm willing to die for it. Period.
No matter how bad it is, or how bad it gets?.I'm going to
make it. I wanna represent an idea. I wanna represent possibilities. Some of you right now, you
wanna go to the next level. You wanna be a civil engineer, you wanna council, you wanna be a doctor.
Listen to me: You can't get to that level. You can't get to that level until you start to invest in your mind.
I dare you to invest in your mind.
I dare you to invest time.
I dare you to be alone.
I dare you to spend an HOUR alone to get to know yourself.
I challenge you to get to a place where people do not like or do not even bother you anymore.
Why? Because you're not concerned with making them happy anyway. Because you're trying to blow up. You're trying to get to the next level. Because you're investing in your mind.
If you're still talking about your dream, if you're still talking about your goals, but you have not done anything, JUST TAKE THE FIRST STEP!
You can make your parents proud, you can make your school proud, you can touch millions of lives and the world will never be
the same again, because you came this way.
Don't let anybody steal your dream. You may fail, and fail, and fail again. But you're still looking at your dream, reviewing it everyday and saying to yourself? It's not over until I win.
You can live your dream.
