Everything about America -- Everything about America seemed so big to me, so open, so possible. I finally arrived here in 1968. What a special day it was. I remember I arrived here with empty pockets, but full of dreams, full of determination, full of desire. The presidential campaign was in full swing. I remember watching the Nixon and Humphrey presidential race on TV. A friend of mine who spoke German and English translated for me.
I heard Humphrey saying things that sounded like socialism, which I had just left. But then I heard Nixon speak. Then I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting the government off your back, lowering the taxes and strengthening the military.

Listening to Nixon speak sounded more like a breath of fresh air. I said to my friend, I said, "What party is he?" My friend said, "He's a Republican." I said, "Then I am a Republican." And I have been a Republican ever since! And trust me -- And trust me in my wife's family, that's no small achievement. But I am proud to be with the Party of Abraham Lincoln, the Party of Teddy Roosevelt, the Party of Ronald Reagan and the Party of George W. Bush!

We move prosperity ahead -- We move prosperity ahead. We move freedom ahead. And we move people ahead. And under President Bush and Vice President Cheney, America's economy is moving ahead in spite of the recession they inherited and in spite of the attack on our homeland.
Now -- Now the other Party says that we are two Americas. Don't you believe that either. I have visited our troops in Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, Germany and all over the world. I've visited our troops in California, where they train before they go overseas. I have visited our military hospitals. And I tell you this: that our men and women in uniform do not believe there are two Americas. They believe there's one America and they are fighting for it!
We are one America -- We are one America and President Bush is defending it with all his heart and soul.
That's what I admire most about the President: He is a man of perseverance. He's a man of inner strength. He's a leader who doesn't flinch, who doesn't waiver, and does not back down.
My fellow Americans -- My fellow Americans, make no mistake about it: Terrorism is more insidious than communism, because it yearns to destroy not just the individual, but the entire international order. The President did not go into Iraq because the polls told him it was popular. As a matter of fact, the polls said just the opposite. But leadership isn't about polls. It's about ma -- It's about making decisions you think are right and then standing behind those decisions.

Three years ago, the struggle of good against evil was compressed into a single morning. In the space of only 102 minutes, our country lost more citizens than were lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Time has passed, but the memories do not fade. We remember the images of fire, and the final calls of love, and the courage of rescuers who saw death and did not flee.
We remember the cruelty of enemies who murdered the innocent, and rejoiced in our suffering.
We remember the many good lives that ended too soon -- which no one had the right to take. ╰☆LF☆╮
And our nation remembers the families left behind to carry a burden of sorrow. They have shown courage of their own. And with the help of God's grace, and with support from one another, the families of terror victims have shown a strength that survives all hurt. Each of them remains in the thoughts and prayers of the American people.
The terrorist attacks on September the 11th were a turning point for our nation. We saw the goals of a determined enemy: to expand the scale of their murder, and force America to retreat from the world. And our nation accepted a mission: We will defeat this enemy.
The United States of America is determined to guard our homeland against future attacks. As the September the 11th Commission concluded, our country is safer than we were three years ago, but we are not yet safe.
So every day, many thousands of dedicated men and women are on duty -- as air marshals, airport screeners, cargo inspectors, border patrol officers, and first responders. At the same time, Americans serving in the FBI and CIA are performing their daily work with professionalism, ╰☆LF☆╮虾 米『英语学生』 说:2010-03-25 18:18:04
while we reform those agencies to see the dangers around the next corner. Our country is grateful to all our fellow citizens who watch for the enemy, and answer the alarms, and guard America by their vigilance.
The United States is determined to stay on the offensive, and to pursue the terrorists wherever they train, or sleep, or attempt to set down roots. We have conducted this campaign from the mountains of Afghanistan, to the heart of the Middle East, to the horn of Africa, to the islands of the Philippines, to hidden cells within our own country.
More than three-quarters of al Qaeda's key members and associates have been detained or killed. We know that there is still a danger to America. So we will not relent until the terrorists who plot murder against our people are found and dealt with.
The United States is also determined to advance democracy in the broader Middle East, because freedom will bring the peace and security we all want. When the peoples of that region are given new hope and lives of dignity, they will let go of old hatreds and resentments, and the terrorists will find fewer recruits.
And as governments of that region join in the fight against terror instead of harboring terrorists, America and the world will be more secure. Our present work in Iraq and Afghanistan is difficult. It is also historic and essential. By our commitment and sacrifice today, we will help transform the Middle East, and increase the safety of our children and grandchildren.
Thanks for all of you to give me a chance to express my feelings here. If need to use several words to generalize the last semester, I guess these words are “frustrating, disappointing and boring.” Just like some of you.
During the first term of my college life I did like a true college student. I mean the way I spent my time like what we took fancy of in the past. I skipped classes, slept on the bed and did not want to buy breakfast, stayed up too late to play my cell phone and so on. I think almost all the student in
China would do these more or less. However, there is one point different between others and me. That is I was nominated by teachers four times and I just skipped classes four times. That is to say every time I cut class I will be pointed out.it is incredible and beyond a simple coincidence, isn’t it?
I still remember the day I left for Ludong University clearly. It is a very long and boring journey, about 12 hours. The train kept roaring past from dust to dawn. I felt sleepy and fell in deep sleep at last. When the train stopped at Ji Nan train station, I waked
up in a complex emotions. I knew Shandong University which I dreamed in almost for four years is here. Notwithstanding, I cannot see or touch her even though I stopped in the city she’ s in. never in a second of my life like that moment did I feel so helpless that I even lost the ability to cry it out. A voice in my heart told me that “You belong to anywhere except this city.” It sounds right, there is always a length separate after the unabiding approach.
The train set in motion again and I knew I ultimately missed the chance to
be admitted in Shandong University, forever.
Everyone who familiar with me knows that I have once been keen on study in high school. There is a saying goes “ God help those who help themselves. ” I can safely say that my experience proved its truth, again. The last year of my high school life I saw my ranking was keeping moving up and finally I became second to none. Many people said it is a miracle about my smashing change and I can realize my dream of being a student of Shandong University easily. However, as you see
now, the outcome is apparent, I show up in front of you. Oh, the boy who used to be ranked second in my high school went to Nanjing University now. What a melancholic story.
Then the shuttle-bus arrived at Ludong University in the morning. I had prepared for the worst situation before I arrive and I knew there must be a contrast between dreamed university and the reality. But the contrast was beyond my imagination especially the time I saw our dormitory. I immersed myself in deep despair and desperate to escape until I met all my
roommates who I will share the small room with. Here I want to express my gratitude for them. Thanks for your company!
In the last semester I made a lot of complaints about the poor teaching equipment, the ageing and cracking building, the unreasonable system of college and so on. But would my complaints make a difference? Noting, except the fact I became more and more bitter.
I am confident that I am positive
and optimistic. There only two times of my life I felt disappointed to myself.
The first time is my failure in college entrance examination and the second time is now. I felt disappointed to what I did in the last semester. Maybe it is the right time for me to get rid of all my bad habits and get a whole change. It is the reason why I am standing in front of you to deliver a speech now. That is all, thanks for your listening.
believe in yourself, that is Self-confidence.
Confidence is power--the power to attract, persuade, influence, and succeed. Imagine what your life would be like if you had an abundance of self confidence !
Confidence isn't an inherited trait, it' s a learned one. This means that you can have an abun-
dance of self-confidence. Start here, right now.
Confidence starts in the mind. What you think of yourself very much influences the way you feel about yourself. This, in turn, affects the way you speak and act.
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
The very first thing you have to do to create abundant self-confidence is to start thinking with confidence. Pay attention to your internal dialogue, and learn to notice when you allow negativity or doubt to control the course of your thinking. Your environment has a tremendous influence on you. The books you read, the people you spend time with, and the music you listen to all influence the way you think and feel about yourself and the world around you.
In a nutshell, your environment can either build up your self-confidence or drag it down. If you're in a situation where you're discouraged, such as an unhealthy relationship or a miserable job, you have to change that situation if you want your self-confidence level to grow.
Create an environment that supports you if your desire to have abundant self-confidence. Spend time with confident people.
Remember those, self-confidence can be yours. Take it!
Life is What We Make It
Are you dissatisfied with today's success? It is the harvest from yesterday's sowing. Do you dream of a golden morrow? You will reap what you are sowing today. We get out of life just what we put into it.
Nature takes on our moods: she laughs with those who laugh and weeps with those who weep. If we rejoice and are glad the very birds sing more sweetly, the woods and streams murmur our song. But if we are sad and sorrowful a sudden gloom falls upon Nature's face; the sun shines, but not in our hearts, the birds sing, but not to us.
The future will be just what we make it. Our purpose will give it its character. One's resolution is one's prophecy. Leave all your discouraging pessimism behind. Do not prophesy evil, but good. Men of hope come to the front.
My topic is "Can money buy happiness".
As we all know, money can buy all the goods in our life, no matter how huge it is. A spaceship, for example, if you really feel your bank account can afford it.
However, when it comes to love, satisfaction, happiness and many other human feelings, it is completely not like this. The result of many recent research can support my point. They said that, though people received far more money than ever, their standard for happiness also rised. That means, if you had one yuan, a car might be your dream, but if you had one million, you might consider owning a space trip. So when people always hope for those they can not afford, they will push themselves to an unhappy situation.
Anyhow, money equal wealthy in life but not happiness in mind. Only by changing our attitude to money and enjoying every day, can we obtain a truely happy future!
Blue Planet
We all have a common home. She provides us with enough food, enough water and enough living room. We get everything from the nature to live better, but we donnot do anything to protect her. How the air is polluted; the earth is poisoned; water is unsafe to drink and rubbish is burying the civilization that man owns.
Our environment is being polluted faster than nature and man's present efforts can prevent. Time is bringing us more people, and more people will bring us more industry. So many trees will be cut down, and more large cities will be set up. Lots of waste material, in return, is produced and harms the environment. So some experts declare that the balance of nature is being upset, so that the very survival of man is in danger.
How can we solve this problem? The answer is that we must control the speed of growing people, forbid everyone to cut down trees and pour waste water into rivers and so on.
If we achieve this, the environment will turn very clean, and our future will be full of happiness.
How to Grow Happiness
Step one:
Plant yourself deep in a bed of faith, and pack it down solid and tight. Drench daily with positive thinking, and keep saturated just right. Mulch often with forgivenss, for this will help you grow. Quickly remove any seeds of worry, for they will soon germinate, and keep out the weeds of despair. Nourish disappointments with hope whenever it is
neeeded, and always stay cool and shaded when you feel irritated or heated. Trim away guilt or depression, for they create decay, and cultivate with happy memories as often as every day.
Step two:
Harvest the lessons of the past; just dig, pick, and hoe. And nurture the roots of the present, for now is when you
flourish and grow. Start planting for the future; set your goals in a row. Spade the bed well for all your dreams to grow.
Step three:
Remember that grief is a natural predator, so learn to tolerate some damage. Protect your garden with daily prayers, for this will help you manage. Bury the criticism and complaining, for they are injurious pests. Sow the seed of love wherever you may go--for joy, love, and laughter are surely bound to grow. Although the thorns of life may be here to stay, just sprout a smile along the way...and be thankful for what you have today!
Good morning, dear teacher and my friends.
it‘s a very intresting topic today.
I think my Dad was a hero for me when I was a young child. We'd go fishing, walks, and other fun things for a kid. Every child has a good and great father, and so do I. My dad played a very important role in my daily life`````exactly speaking, in my past 16 years.
My father always stands in the center of my life, from past till now and possibly in the future.
My family was rather poor when I was in my childhood. We didn't have our own house and had to live in a shabby, small room rented from my father's factory. The room was so small that there was little space for people to walk. I didn't have my own bed and had to sleep with my parents. This is terrible both for my parents and me.
But father made this all different!he works very hard on his own business, now we have our own 2 housese, surly,I have my own room.and he take our family so much happiness, richer and richer.
When I was little, I did everything with my dad. You could always find me sitting on his knee or walking and doing everything with him. Every night he would read me a bed time story and make the voices of each character. I learnt a lot from my daddy. I learnt to never take things to seriously and to always smile.
Like many other fathers, my dad and I also has generation gap. He is not good at or even can‘t work the computer. So when I sitting at the computer desk,he will say something like ?you should pay more attention to your study‘, ?don‘t waste time on the computer games‘ , ?it will be bad for your eyes‘ and so on. How can I- a computer fan – reduce time on computer? So I continue studying and playing on it
Years pasted, my father is over 45 now. It is time for me to look after him and I am sure I will do and we will live an even better life. and i will say,i really love you dad, cause you are the hero in my mind.
Thank you so much!

Change the world? Change Ourselves
Good evening, honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen.
It‘s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—Change the World, Change Ourselves.
It‘s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional
festivals are being somewhat neglected. Not long before about 10 Doctors in Beijing university and Qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.
Frankly speaking, I don‘t quite agree with them.Indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as China boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples). But why can‘t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.
There are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in China. On the one hand, some of the
western holidays which we Chinese don‘t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as Father‘s Day and April Fool‘s Day etc. On the other hand, the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in China. Overwhelmed by such a trend,Chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
With the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and
nations becomes faster and more and more important. We are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth. The only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? The answer is definitely no. What we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate Chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. Only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. Only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.
At last I‘d like to share a famous saying of Gandhi with all of you ,that is:If you want to change the world, then you must change yourself first.‖
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, I am very glad to stand here to have my speech.
Global Citizenship begins at home. Do you know what is the connotation of the Global Citizenship ? To be honest I don‘t understand the exactly meaning of the sentence ,so only can I explain it simply .Global Citizenship ,in my
opinion ,is not something in word only ,but a kind of responsibility and undertaking ,a way of behaving and thinking .So Global citizenship begins at home ,with a commitment to live responsibility ,to regard all human begins as fellow citizens ,and to be proactive in seeking the common good.
For us university students ,usually we are busy with exams or focusing on the incidents in daily life .We hardly pay attention to the global issues. However , as university students ,we should take the responsibility to think about them ,think about the life around us.
The world develops quickly, but it wandered from the path it should be. Peace and development have become essential issues.
Peace lays a foundation to development. But because of the development, social problems and environmental problems have become serious global problems. Over-population makes us ask for more resources from the limited ones. It causes natural resources fearfully scarce. If we keep on doing so, we will of course lose our reliable living space at last.
Apart from the environment we had broke at home ,we Chinese also have no sense to protect it when traveling abroad. Therefore Chinese travelers‘ behaviors in foreign countries have made the native intolerable .And the foreigners have the bad influence about our country.
So I think the sentence of Global Citizenship begins at home means that everyone should be the global
citizen ,should take the responsibility to protect our mother land .Global citizenship begins at home ,let we do it
through the children and the parents ,through the school and the society, thou the government .There‘s an old saying :
Action speaks louder than words. Let‘s act now . Thank you all attention.

"I swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Why is honesty important in a relationship? If something occurs don't give a half answer up front. You give a full disclosure answer, so that person, the other person; be it talking to the male or talking to the female gets the full picture. It's easier for them to handle it that way in one lump sum than to string it out, "Oh yeah well I forgot to tell you about this issue in that situation. I forgot to tell you about that issue in this situation." Then guess what you are never going to be believable, so believeableness is critical in the honesty. In the event that something occurs and this question comes up and the other wants to know. The lady wants to know what's going on or the man wants to know what's going on. Give it the full picture, because if you do not your credibility is going to go down to zero. Your stock will go down. Not unlike the stock market. You will tank. That's what Dr. Paul has to say about this. This is Dr. Paul. May your fantasies of today be your realities of tomorrow."

experienced the sour ,sweet ,bitter and salty can I really become a person of significance. I will become a junior. But I gain something less I want. My English is poor. Facing all kinds of tests. I feel anxious. I always explain this life that is not I want. I think I am not able to English well, in other words, I am not material to study. My feeling of depression was transient. Many people are concerning me. All of us were disappointed by me. Sometimes , I think so much , I give myself pressure. Although my classmates think I am a happy girl, truth is not this. When a person said “ you are nothing besides this “ you may want to know what is this. It is my only ability that I can be a sale. When I listened this words, tears can not be enough express my mood. No matter how only I can change all by myself. Just in time, a young boss engaged part-time workers. It chances in an hour that happens not in seven years, now or never. I should stretch my hands as far as they reach, grab all I can grab. Because this job can study English and do other things. Although this job is difficult to me , I must try it. I want to develop myself and braver than past. I think I am young, I should not escape real life. In the future, I will live independent and decide my life ways. I will choice my future job by me, so I should know all of mine. I will use this chance to know myself this summer holiday. My some friends with I will challenge this job, so we can help each other. On the weekends, we may play together. Many the generation after 90s worry face society, they hope hide behind other people. I am too. So we should face all follow our age up. If not, our mind age cannot increase with our body. Believe ourselves, be bravers.
